This is so new. Ten years ago this didn’t even exist! Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, just to name a few… Brands, from movies to food and beyond, all all reaching out to their “friends” (a.k.a. their consumers) in a more personal level. They want to know what you think. They want to know why you love them. And they want for us, as consumers, to promote free for them. They will pay for the advertising in one way, then when you “like” their status or share something from their pages, they get free advertising, because you are sharing with the world and YOUR connections something that THEY may not know about. These companies that have “figured” out social media, are winning twice over for this fact alone. And if you have a problem? If you had a bad experience at a restaurant or a movie theater, and they are using this avenue of connecting with us, and you share with them openly, in public with these media outlets, they will jump at the chance to correct any wrongdoings, if possible. It really is a two way street for these companies. The idea is that at the end of the day everyone walks away happy. They get to hear how wonderful they are doing and are able to step up their customer service, while we all give additional advertising by sharing. Social advertising is a whole new level of advertising than anything in the past. It reaches further than magazines, newspaper ads, and even billboards. It completes an advertising campaign and rounds everything out.
